For sale is a vintage 1942 WWII porcelain coated steel canteen. This canteen is stamped on the bottom US USS CO 1942. As you can see there are some rust spots where the porcelain has worn away. The top is the early flat top style and the cork is still in good shape just dry. These were plated inside as well so the plating was consumed DO NOT USE NOT SAFE FOR CONSUMPTION. For that reason they were only made for a short time in 1942 and are becoming harder to find in any kind of decent condition. Where did this canteen serve, was it on Guadalcanal with General Vandegrift or relegated to a training camp. This will also make a unique addition to your early war impression, and be the center of many conversations when collectors gather. Ask any question you may have.
